Full breakdown on what an LPA costs in 2026.
How that compares
- GOV.UK direct: £92 per LPA, no help with the wording or checking.
- Us: £49 per LPA prepared and checked, plus the £92 registration fee.
- Solicitor: commonly £300–£600 per LPA plus the registration fee.
Reducing the OPG fee
Income under £12,000 a year can halve the fee, and certain benefits remove it entirely. See fee exemption and remission.
Common questions
Are there any hidden costs?
Only if you choose to pay a professional certificate provider, or need certified copies later. Witnesses and certificate providers are usually free.
Do I pay the OPG separately?
Yes — the £92 per LPA is paid to the Office of the Public Guardian when the LPA is submitted for registration.
