The LPA registration fee
Guidance from Estate Advisory Group
£92 per LPA, payable to the Office of the Public Guardian. It is a government fee, not a service charge, and nobody can register an LPA without it.

It is charged per document, not per person and not per attorney. Our own fee is separate: £49 for one LPA or £79 for both — see pricing.
How and when you pay
- You pay when the signed LPA is submitted for registration, not when you complete it.
- You can pay by card over the phone, by cheque to the OPG, or claim a reduction instead.
- If the application is rejected for a fault that requires re-signing, a further fee may be payable.
Paying less
If the donor's gross income is under £12,000 the fee is halved to £46. If they receive certain means-tested benefits it can be waived entirely. Evidence must go with the application — see fee exemption and remission.
Check the current fee
£92 has been the fee for some years, but government fees change. Confirm the current amount on GOV.UK before you post your application.
Common questions
Is the £92 refundable?
Generally not once the application has been processed. If you withdraw before registration you can ask the OPG, but do not count on it.
Does the fee include anything else?
It covers the OPG's checking, the objection period and registration. Certified copies and use of the online 'Use an LPA' service are separate.
