Without a solicitor, the only real choice is how much checking you want built into the process, since the government fee and the underlying document are identical across all three routes.
Signing order without a solicitor present
None of these routes involve a solicitor witnessing or checking your signatures. You are responsible for gathering the donor, certificate provider and attorneys in the correct order yourself, following either the official notes or a signing guide, and for making sure each signature is properly witnessed.
A worked example
Alan wants to avoid solicitor fees entirely. He uses our £49 service to prepare his LP1F, reviews it carefully, and follows the personalised signing guide to get his signature, his certificate provider's and his attorney's signature in the right order over the course of a week. Common questions
Is £141 the true final cost, or are there extras later?
For a standard registration it is the true cost. Extras only arise if you later want a certified copy from a solicitor or need to make a new LPA because circumstances changed.
What if my LPA is rejected — do I pay the £92 again?
If the OPG rejects it for correction, you usually do not pay a second registration fee for the same corrected application, but the process and notice period restart.
Can I get a solicitor to just check my signatures were done correctly?
Some solicitors offer a short paid review of a completed document; this is not something we provide, but it is worth asking about directly if you want reassurance without full drafting costs.
Does going without a solicitor affect how banks treat the LPA?
No, banks and other organisations accept a correctly registered LPA regardless of who prepared it.
